Century Pacific Claims the Largest Self-Consumption Rooftop PV System in the Philippines

Solenergy Systems, Inc. designs and constructs solar PV project for one of the largest branded food companies in the Philippines.

Century Pacific Food, Inc. (CPFI), a leading food manufacturer in the country, is also pioneering the use of renewable energy in the Commercial & Industrial sector. The company awarded the EPC contract, for the 5.16MWpDC grid-tied solar PV system to Solenergy Systems, Inc. a local leader in embedded generation design, construction and maintenance. The said rooftop PV project is located in General Santos City, Philippines, Solenergy’s 2nd installation in the Mindanao region.

The system comprises quality ”Tier 1” components including 405W and 410W monocrystalline panels from JA Solar for higher power output, connected to Fronius Symo Advanced 24.0-3 480 inverters, the ideal compact three-phase inverters suited for commercial and industrial applications and the often harsh Philippine climate.

Clenergy Ez-rack solar roof served as the robust module mounting system. Also added were industry-leading surge protection devices from Mersen circuit breakers from Noark Electric to provide increased protection to the PV system and the client’s grid. In addition, the system also complies with the latest PEC mandate for rapid shutdown and arc fault protection, two safety functions that are built in to the Fronius inverters.

Annually, the on-grid rooftop solar PV system is capable of generating 7,393,996 kWh of energy, which will cover around 12.5% of the overall electricity demand of the plant. The 5.16MWp DC PV-system is expected to have a cumulative yield of approximately 160,815,877.26 kWh in 25 years; and over the same period, the solar power system is calculated to offset an estimated 109,933.73 tons of CO2.

ENVISION is a cloud-based energy monitoring system designed for energy efficiency. Visit www.envision-monitoring.com now and take control of your energy usage.

Solenergy also provided a centralized energy monitoring system from Envision Monitoring to help the client observe their power consumption and solar production. The system allows authorized personnel to have real-time access to actual and historical PV yield, thus giving them informed decisions over energy savings and cost reduction measures.

Through Envision, CPFI is also provided a bespoke curtailment solution that enables them to operate the PV system in parallel with their gensets in case of power outages and eliminate back-feed to the utility’s grid.
